Midnight is our resident hospital cat here at Bayside Animal Hospital. She is a welcomed part of the hospital family, spending most of her time up front with her receptionists. Her story is one that often touches those who hear it, since we saved her from uncertainty when she came to us.

Midnight was suffering from a tough but fixable problem when we first saw her. She had severe cystitis (Cystitis is an inflammation or infection of the urinary bladder.) It was becoming taxing on her owner and she could no longer care for her. At this point, it was requested that we humanely euthanize her as a last resort but our doctors felt there was more we could do for her.

So we took her in at the hospital, and began caring for her. That was some time ago, and she's settled in just fine with the hospital settings. It's amazing how well she handles the pets that she sees come and go but she's not afraid to let anyone know who's boss if there's any question of it.

Being the hospital cat also means that she performs a great service in being a donor for critical patients. On a few occasions, she has donated her blood to help with a transfusion for a very sick pet.

Next time you visit Bayside, be sure to stop and notice Midnight. She's a wonderful part of our family who is very sweet, even though sometimes she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. Just like people, she has good days and bad days but will welcome all the attention she can get from our clients.
