In order to ensure the best professional cleaning for your pet's teeth, our technicians perform several steps during a dental procedure. First, a tartar-removal forcep is used to remove large areas of tartar accumulation if any were present. <ext, a water-cooled ultrasonic scaler is used to remove the remaining tartar buildup and debris from the tooth surfaces. All teeth are evaluated with a dental probe, and any existing tartar or debris is removed with ultrasonic or hand scaling. The teeth are then polished using a mildly abrasive fluoride toothpaste with a slow speed polisher and the oral cavity rinsed with water to ensure a complete cleaning.
Although it depends on the condition of the animals mouth, most dental cleanings are relatively routine and do not require over night hospitalization. Your pet would arrive in the morning to allow time for a pre-surgical exam and blood work, as with any surgical procedure. The time of your pet's procedure depends on the doctor they are seeing but a technician will contact you as soon as your pet is waking up safely. If there are any problems or questions, the doctor will contact you immediately. This is why it is important for us to have correct contact information.
Healthy teeth are vital for your pet to have a long, healthy life so don't ignore your pet's bad breath! If you think your pet would benefit from a dental cleaning, contact us today.
